Accounting Manager

Accounting ManagerLHH is searching for an Accounting Manager for a top Nonprofit organization based in Chicago. Preferably, the selected candidate will have eight years of hands-on Accounting Management experience with a mid-sized nonprofit organization. Responsibilities include ensuring financial activities and procedures are compliant with GAAP and leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process/deadlines.Accounting Manager Job Responsibilities:Responsible for the preparation of financial statementsDevelop, direct and plan current accounting policies and procedures including cost and general accountingManage month-end and year-end close processPrepare and approve journal entries and intercompany transactionsAssists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules and worksheetsDevelop regular and ad hoc financial analysis as requested for internal managementAssist in tax and regulatory reporting and requirementsRecommend more efficient procedures when necessaryApply sound professional judgment on details of workImplement the strategic plan for the overall direction of accounting processAnalyze and communicate business performanceRequirements:Bachelors of Science in Accounting or FinanceEight years or more of experience in Accounting/FinanceStrong Microsoft Excel SkillsCPA is strongly preferredThorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesAdvanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of AccountingStrong Leadership abilitiesExceptional communication skillsMust be able to effectively handle multiple projects at one timeBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
