This role will combine deep credit union and financial management expertise with strong business acumen, analytical capabilities, and the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights.
More than a functional finance leader, the Director of Finance will serve as a strategic business partner to the organization, helping leaders evaluate opportunities, understand financial implications, manage risk, and make informed decisions that advance the Credit Union’s strategic objectives.
The Director will provide leadership across treasury, liquidity and capital management, asset/liability management (ALM), financial analytics, forecasting, and strategic finance. The role will also champion the continued evolution of Finance through data, digital capabilities, automation, and artificial intelligence, ensuring departmental initiatives align with the Credit Union’s broader enterprise strategy.

- Evaluate strategic opportunities, investments, initiatives, and business cases through a financial, risk, and enterprise‑value lens.
- Proactively identify emerging opportunities, risks, and trends and translate them into actionable recommendations.
- Influence decision‑making across organizational boundaries and build alignment among Finance, business units, and executive leadership.
Treasury, Liquidity & Capital Management
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Credit Union’s treasury activities, including cash management, liquidity planning, funding strategies, and capital management.
- Develop and maintain robust cash and liquidity forecasts to ensure appropriate liquidity under expected and stressed operating environments.
- Evaluate funding alternatives and recommend strategies that appropriately balance liquidity, earnings, capital, and risk.
- Support capital planning and forecasting, including evaluating the potential impact of strategic initiatives and changes in the economic and interest‑rate environment.
- Maintain a strong understanding of credit union funding markets, investment strategies, and balance‑sheet management practices.
Asset/Liability Management
- Provide leadership and subject matter expertise related to Asset/Liability Management (ALM), including interest‑rate risk, liquidity risk, funding, pricing, and balance‑sheet strategy.
- Analyze ALM results and scenarios and translate technical findings into clear business implications and strategic recommendations.
- Partner with executive leadership and other stakeholders to develop balance‑sheet strategies that appropriately balance growth, profitability, liquidity, capital, and risk.
- Support ALCO and other governance forums with thoughtful analysis, scenario evaluation, recommendations, and clear communication of financial implications.
- Maintain awareness of economic, interest‑rate, regulatory, and industry developments and assess their potential impact on the Credit Union.
Data, Analytics & Decision Support
- Advance Finance’s use of data and analytics to deliver forward‑looking insights that influence decisions and catalyze action.
- Develop financial models, forecasts, scenarios, dashboards, and performance measures that provide leaders with greater visibility into business performance and emerging trends.
- Move beyond reporting “what happened” to helping the organization understand why it happened, what it means, and what actions should be considered next.
- Partner across the organization to improve data quality, accessibility, governance, and the effective use of financial and operational information.
- Establish a culture of data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement within Finance.
- Champion the Finance department’s digital and AI journey in alignment with the Credit Union’s enterprise technology and AI strategy.
- Identify opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence, automation, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to improve Finance processes, insights, controls, and decision‑making.
- Encourage responsible experimentation and adoption of new capabilities while maintaining appropriate governance, security, accuracy, and risk management.
- Develop the Finance team’s capabilities and mindset to effectively operate in an increasingly digital, data‑driven environment.
- Partner with technology, data, risk, and business leaders to ensure Finance is an active contributor to enterprise digital transformation.
Leadership & Communication
- Build, develop, and lead a high‑performing finance team with strong technical capabilities, business acumen, curiosity, and an enterprise mindset.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, innovation, and proactive business partnership.
- Communicate complex financial, treasury, ALM, and analytical concepts in a manner appropriate for the audience—from technical specialists to business leaders, executives, and Board‑level stakeholders.
- Distill complex information into clear, digestible, and actionable recommendations.
