EVA Development SE&I Engineer

Role Overview We are looking for an EVA Development SE&I Engineer to work with HX5, a teammate company, ensuring NASA’s systems meet interface and safety requirements for space exploration. Responsibilities Evaluate NASA’s commercial partner documentation to ensure interface requirements with the ISS, Lunar EVA environments, and vehicle systems are met. Analyze interfaces such as Gateway Airlock Module, ISS Airlock & exterior, Human Landing System (SpaceX & Blue Origin), Lunar Terrain Vehicle, PR, tools, and scientific instruments. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Minimum bachelor’s degree in Engineering; 5‑10 years of related experience. Strong knowledge of extravehicular activity, space suits, and lessons from historical EVA and vehicle systems. Background in systems engineering. Demonstrated understanding of complex systems under development for Artemis missions. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to NASA programs, control boards, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams. History of reviewing technical documentation and providing meaningful feedback. License and certification may be required. Preferences Ability to work independently, identify issues, prioritize responsibilities, and establish relationships with NASA teams, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams. 5+ years of human spaceflight experience, including 2+ years of direct experience with extravehicular activity equipment, systems, and/or space suits. May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time). Equipment and Machines Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.). Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
