Environmental Engineer Watershed Protection Branch

Overview The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) engages in continuous recruitment for Environmental Engineers. The EPD protects and restores Georgia’s environment, ensuring clean air, land, and water. Through its Air, Land, and Watershed Protection Branches and seven District Offices, EPD implements state laws, rules, and policies to protect human health and the environment. The Watershed Protection Branch (WPB) manages water resources in Georgia through regulatory and protection programs, monitoring, assessment and planning. The Branch issues permits to local governments, industry, and other entities, and ensures that Georgia's public water systems operate properly. Responsibilities Assist with collection of data. Inspect industrial and municipal facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with regulations. Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs. Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits and standard operating procedures. Prepare, review, and update environmental investigation and recommendation reports. Provide technical-level support for environmental remediation and litigation projects. Review and analyze engineering plans to recommend reductions and eliminations of environmental impact. Perform simple engineering calculations to model or predict flow of contamination. Perform standard engineering studies to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations. Field work and occasional overnight travel may be required. Qualifications ETP020 – Environmental Engineer 1 Entry Salary: $58,240.00 Bachelor's degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil‑sanitary, or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university. ETP021 – Environmental Engineer 2 Entry Salary: $64,064.00 Bachelor's degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil‑sanitary, or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of professional environmental protection or sanitary engineering work, or two years at the lower level Environmental Engineer 1 (ETP020). ETP022 – Environmental Engineer 3 Entry Salary: $70,470.40 Bachelor's degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil‑sanitary, or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university and two years of professional environmental or sanitary engineering work, or one year at a level equivalent to Environmental Engineer 2 (ETP021). Additional Information Based on education and experience, the selectee will be hired into one of the job codes above.
