Design Associate

Job Description Assists Design Consultant in scheduling, preparing, and following up with design services for Havertys customers. Attends client homes to examine furniture placement and color coordination; recommends additional furniture and accessories as needed. Supports Design Consultant with in‑store engagements and appointments. May include sales training on the sales floor to deepen understanding of Havertys’ customer engagement process. Major Function Provide support during qualified home visits, assist with building personalized presentations (colors, placement, visual samples, floor plans), and prepare post‑purchase presentations. Communicate with Design Consultant, Sales Consultant, and Management to review each visit and provide feedback. Maintain knowledge of special sales, financing plans, delivery procedures, and warranties. Specific Duties Attend or schedule qualified home visits with the client; work evenings and weekends as needed. Collaborate with Design Consultant during all aspects of in‑home visits. Help construct personalized presentations using approved templates and SWAGGER displays. Create floor plans using Havertys.com’s current floor‑planner software. After each visit, provide feedback to Design Consultant, Sales Consultant, and Management and submit floor plans and presentation templates. Assist Sales Consultant with creating special‑order SKUs, sales reserves, and floor plans for in‑store clients to visualize purchases and close sales. Use My Sales Center to access and follow‑up with customers. Maintain knowledge of a broad range of furniture styles and products. Encourage and reinforce customer selections to help close sales. Offer constructive feedback to Design Consultant to increase average ticket. Understand and promote special sales, financing plans, delivery procedures, and warranties. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Qualifications Job Requirements Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with accommodations as needed. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field; or 2–4 years of related experience/training or an equivalent combination. ASID certification preferred. Licenses Valid driver’s license with a clean record and reliable transportation; proof of minimum state‑required car insurance required. Computer Skills Knowledge of email, Room Planner software, Microsoft Office, internet software, and full‑shot imaging software. Physical Demands Stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, or balance regularly. Must lift or move more than 20 pounds.
