Animal Research Technician

Kelly is hiring an Animal Research Technician for one of our clients in Wilmington, MA This role works with animals and they will need to be comfortable with handling mice, guinea pigs, etc. Position pays $24.00/hr. Schedule: Monday – Thursday (6:00 AM – 3:00 PM), Friday (6:00 AM – 12:00 PM) Interview Format: Onsite Interview No research experience or degree necessary; must have experience handling animals in a work setting (pet store, animal hospital, farms/ranches, zoo/aquarium, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers) POSITION SUMMARY Perform various laboratory procedures in compliance with cGMP regulations for nonclinical research studies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Animal Care & Dosing: Administer test articles/substances, observe physical health signs, record study data, and prepare/autoclave cages and animal tags. Study Preparation & Materials: Prepare data forms, assist with test agent formulation, maintain dosage equipment, and manage inventory for specialized supplies (e.g., blood collection tubes). Data Management & Quality: Record study parameters according to protocol, generate data summaries, and ensure raw data records are complete, accurate, and cGMP-compliant. Coordination & Operations: Collaborate with project managers and technical staff, provide hands-on technical support, assist in coordinating departmental activities, and maintain proficiency in all departmental SOPs. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) in Biological Sciences or a related discipline required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: 1–2 years of related technical laboratory experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered). Certifications: ALAT certification preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT Physical Requirements: Frequently required to remain stationary during lab tasks, operate equipment, and move around the facility. Must regularly lift up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Safety & PPE: Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing. Environment: Active research setting involving sharp objects, mechanical equipment, fumes, caustic/toxic chemicals, biological samples, and potential exposure to zoonotic hazards.
