Your mission: keep athletes safe, mobile, and performing at their best. From Friday night lights to midweek practice support, your presence will resonate across fields, gyms, and locker rooms.
Position Highlights
Role: Athletic Trainer School-Based Sports Program Schedule: Full-time, variable (includes games, practices, events; evenings and some weekends)
Deliver immediate acute care and first response at school practices, games, and events
Conduct thorough injury evaluations and craft rehab plans to guide athlete recovery
Carry out injury-prevention strategiestaping, bracing, movement assessments
Oversee return-to-play progression and analyze functional performance
Maintain organized documentation for injuries, treatments, and communications
Educate athletes, coaches, and parents on safe training, conditioning, and nutrition
Tend to athletic training space and gear upkeep, ensuring adherence to safety standards
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field
Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) credential required
State licensure in Iowa (or eligible)
CPR/First Aid certification
Exceptional at communicating and teaching, both in arenas and hallways
Skilled in critical thinking and field-based problem-solving under pressure
Comfortable managing multiple athletes and responsibilities simultaneously
Confident adapting clinical care to fit adolescent and young adult needs

Your day begins on the field before fans and families roll in. As athletes stretch and drills begin, you're there: taping ankles, offering warm-up guidance, and staying sharp. When a collision occurs or cramps flare, you step into actionassessing, treating, and guiding athletes with calm confidence.
Through the season, you track recovery, tweak rehab routines, and support performance goals. More than a clinician, you're a trusted guideteaching safe training habits, hydration strategies, and proper return-to-play protocols. Your work prevents injuries, builds resilience, and helps athletes reach their potential.
Off the field, you collaborate with strength coaches, nurses, and school administrators to shape policies and protocols. Your insights inform safety initiatives and shape how sports medicine supports student health across the district.
