Job Title: Oncology RN Profession: RN Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Oncology background Description: This is an Oncology nursing position. The unit has 21 beds, with a current census of 8-12 patients. Staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 3-4 RNs, and 1 patient care technician on the night shift. Patient ratios are estimated at 1:3-4, flexing to 1:5. Equipment used on the unit includes Baxter pumps and Meditech EMR. Candidates must possess an oncology background to be considered for this role. A background in hematology-oncology and chemotherapy certification is preferred. Typical procedures performed include replacing blood and electrolytes. The ideal candidate should be compassionate. Unit guidelines include strict neutropenic precautions, hourly intake and output monitoring, CHG baths and linen changes every 24 hours, dressing changes every 7 days, and line and cap changes every 96 hours. Children under 16 are not allowed in the unit. Rotating weekends will be required, with no on-call duties.
