The Division of Business and Financial Affairs is responsible for ensuring a safe, productive campus environment while providing the highest quality service in support of academic excellence through thoughtful stewardship of financial, technological, infrastructure and human resources at San Diego State University.
SDSU Facilities Services (FS), a department of Business and Financial Affairs, is a customer service-based organization providing facility maintenance activities through a transparent and deliberate process. It is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, renovation, remodel, and alteration activities in support of the academic and research mission of the university. Facilities Services employs over 253 employees (full time and students) and supports approximately eight million square feet of buildings (including residence halls and parking structures) and 280 acres of improved and unimproved land with an operating budget of approximately forty-five million dollars.
The Office of Housing Administration (OHA) is a self-funded operation responsible for planning, providing, and administering housing operations, services, and facilities with over 100 employees and over 150 student assistants with an annual operating budget exceeding $145,000,000. OHA provides housing for over 8,500 students in 25 communities with over 2 million sq. ft. of residential facilities. The OHA manages the operation of residence halls, apartments, and conference and event spaces. The OHA supports the educational mission of the Residential Education Office (REO) while providing business operations for all housing-related functions in support of a quality environment to enhance the student educational experience.

- Assisting with minor facility and custodial equipment maintenance, campus events, and general Facilities Services operations.
Support a clean, safe, and welcoming residential environment for students by:
- Cleaning residence halls, student rooms, lounges, restrooms, kitchens, stairwells, elevators, and other residential common areas.
- Performing room turnover, deep cleaning, floor care, trash removal, and replenishing restroom and residential supplies.
- Assisting with residence hall openings, closures, move-in/move-out activities, and emergency cleanup.
- Supporting housing events, maintaining custodial equipment and supply inventories, and helping ensure a positive residential experience.
- Help create safe, clean, and welcoming spaces for the SDSU community.
- Support either the academic campus or student residential communities through essential custodial services.

Position Information
- This recruitment will be used to fill full-time or part-time appointments on a permanent (probationary) and/or temporary basis, depending on the staffing need. Temporary appointments are made for a specified period and may be renewed or end earlier in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Eligibility for benefits varies based on appointment type, timebase, and applicable CSU policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- These positions are designated non-exempt under FLSA and are eligible for overtime compensation.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

- Day Shift: 3:30 AM - 12:00 PM
- Transition Shift: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Night Shift: Monday-Thursday: 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM; Friday: 4:30 PM - 1:00 AM

Key Qualifications
- Ability to lift and transport equipment, material and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance (in excess of 50 pounds with assistance).
- Valid California Driver's License is preferred.
- Prior experience in custodial services, maintenance services, or similar environment preferred.

Compensation :
Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 5 ($3,747/month).
- Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,461 - $4,752 per month (Step 1-Step 17).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
- Generous Time Off : 15 paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
- Retirement : CalPERS pension plan with retiree healthcare, and reciprocal agreements with other California public retirement systems, including the UC.
