We are looking for a skilled Sr. Accountant to join a growing organization in Hayward, California on a Contract basis. This position plays a key role in keeping the monthly close on track through accurate transaction processing, ledger maintenance, and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, sound accounting judgment, and the ability to work effectively in an evolving environment with limited process documentation.
Responsibilities:
• Lead core month-end close tasks to help ensure deadlines are met and financial data is recorded accurately
• Review, maintain, and reconcile general ledger activity to support complete and reliable financial reporting
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances or outstanding items to resolution
• Record journal entries related to accruals, prepaids, and other routine accounting activity with appropriate support
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including depreciation tracking and maintenance of supporting schedules
• Research discrepancies within accounting systems and resolve issues affecting account accuracy or close progress
• Perform account and bank reconciliations to confirm the completeness and accuracy of financial records
• Partner with the accounting team to strengthen workflows and improve the efficiency of recurring processes
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with prior responsibility for general ledger activities and close support• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliation work
• Strong working knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations, accrual accounting, and prepaid expense tracking
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to use pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis tools
• Experience using large ERP platforms such as NetSuite or similar accounting systems
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage work independently
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced setting where procedures may evolve and not always be fully documented
