Payroll Specialist

Description Payroll Specialist position. In-person, hourly, non‑exempt. The Payroll Specialist is expected to work independently with supervisory personnel on an as‑needed basis to ensure the correct processing of the bi‑weekly payroll, develop individual work procedures, and adapt responsibilities to departmental needs. Schedule Full‑time, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Responsibilities Complete full audit of weekly timecards with cross‑validation to pay assignment and Attendance Policy. Assist in weekly reporting for field leadership on labor tracking, performance, attendance, and timecard accuracy. Reconcile and file payroll field submittals. Work directly with field supervisors on accuracy and timeliness of all payroll‑related items, including corrections as needed. Maintain and update location Master Schedules to ensure proper pay assignment. Assist Payroll Director with pay‑cycle Register reviews; complete changes as needed. Manage the data flow of the Open Position Report. Contribute to new hire training and development on payroll processes and system acclimation. Serve as a point of contact for payroll inquiries for hourly field and supervisory roles. Audit employee records for new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes to direct deposit, tax withholding, and address. Perform maintenance and assignment of employee PTO accruals. Test changes within payroll and time‑and‑attendance systems. Assist with compliance and reporting for federal, state, and local regulations. Adhere to strict ethical guidelines and confidentiality requirements. Perform special assignments and analysis as directed. Requirements Knowledge of payroll principles, labor laws, and tax regulations. Experience with payroll software; Paylocity and/or UKG PRO experience preferred. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality. Good organizational skills and ability to set priorities. Minimum Training and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field is preferred; alternatively, high school graduate with advanced accounting coursework and at least two (2) years of accounting or payroll experience.
