Substitute Cafeteria - Food Service WorkerUnder the direct supervision of the Cafeteria Manager, Cafeteria Assistant Manager, Principal, and Director of Support Services, performs all duties of the cafeteria food service worker.Essential FunctionsKnows and understands all cafeteria tasksRecognizes and understands all VDH requirements and regulationsHolds or be willing to obtain ServeSafe Food Handler CertificationPrepares and serves meals to students and staffAppropriately interact with students and staffRoutine cleaning within the kitchen and cafeteriaFamiliarity with and ability to successfully implement HACCPAdditional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.Uses basic kitchen equipment, slicer, dishwasher, etc.Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of kitchen equipment used in the performance of duties.Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks and gloves.Must comply with school division's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.Ability to describe orally or in writing the preparation of meals, cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s).Physical and Mental Demands, Work HazardsWorks in school cafeteria and school building environments.Exposure to cleaning chemicals.Qualifications ProfileAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance.High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.Previous experience in food service desirable.FLSA StatusNon-exempt
