Part-Time Food Service Worker

Under the direct supervision of the Cafeteria Manager, Principal, and Supervisor of Food Services, performs all duties of the cafeteria food service worker. Knows and understands all cafeteria tasks. Recognizes and understands all VDH requirements and regulations. Holds or be willing to obtain ServeSafe Food Handler Certification. Prepares and serves meals to students and staff. Appropriately interact with students and staff. Routine cleaning within the kitchen and cafeteria. Performs other related tasks as assigned. Uses basic kitchen equipment, dishwasher, etc. Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of kitchen equipment used in the performance of duties. Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks and gloves. Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others. Ability to describe orally or in writing the preparation of meals, cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Ability to perform work according to standard procedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s). Works in standard school environment and school cafeteria, may have exposure to cleaning materials. Lifting may be required. High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position. Previous experience in food service desirable. FLSA Status: Non-exempt. Salary based on the 2026-27 Salary Scale, $15/hr - $19.06/hr dependent upon relevant experience.
