Location: Saint Louis, MI 48880

Pay Rate: $114.19/hr

Shift: Monday - Friday 8am to 4:30pm

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Dentist (DDS/DMD) to provide and oversee comprehensive dental care services in a state facility / correctional healthcare setting . This role includes direct patient care through clinical dentistry services, diagnosis and treatment of oral health conditions, and oversight of dental support staff.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong independent clinical judgment, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to function effectively in a structured, secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient dental examinations
• Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and oral structures
• Restore teeth and construct/fit dentures and dental appliances
• Perform dental surgery procedures including:
  • Tooth/root extractions
  • Removal of impacted teeth
  • Alveoplasty as needed
• Treat pathological conditions of the oral cavity
• Take and interpret oral radiographs for diagnostic purposes
• Suture facial lacerations within and around the oral cavity
• Prescribe medications for:
  • Pain control
  • Infection control
  • Viral, bacterial, and fungal infections
• Provide patient education on oral hygiene and prevention of oral diseases
• Review medical history and document dental treatment to ensure patient safety
• Maintain dental charts, histories, and treatment documentation
• Participate in quality improvement activities by compiling and reviewing dental care data
• Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings when needed
• Ensure safe and compliant disposal of toxic waste
• Participate in in-service training and continuing education

Qualifications

Education

• Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctorate of Medical Dentistry (DMD)

Licensure

• Current Michigan Dentist License in good standing (required)

Experience

• No specific experience requirement listed; however, candidates must be capable of working independently at an experienced level.

Work Environment

• This position requires direct contact with incarcerated individuals
• Some positions may involve exposure to disease and illness

• Must be able to follow strict safety, security, and healthcare protocols
