Join an established Hospitalist service in Derry, New Hampshire, providing onsite hospital coverage across multiple services. The hospital currently has spontaneous openings across day, evening, and on-call coverage, with additional weekend coverage needs.

The Hospitalist team manages a diverse and underserved patient population in a 120-bed facility with an open ICU. The provider will participate in inpatient rounding, admissions, consultations, and coordination with the multidisciplinary hospital team.

Assignment Details

Schedule:

• Onsite hospital coverage
• Call coverage
• Weekday and weekend coverage
• Night coverage as part of the call structure
• Service A: 7:00 AM7:00 PM
• Service B: 8:00 AM4:00 PM
• Service C: 7:00 AM3:00 PM
• Service C on-call: 7:00 AM11:00 AM
• Service B on-call: 11:00 AM3:00 PM
• Service A on-call: 3:00 PM7:00 PM
• All three services become 12-hour services when volume is busy
• Weekends: two 12-hour services with surge coverage when needed
• Once the call rotation is complete, providers are not expected to be called or called back after their shift

Orientation

• One 12-hour orientation/shadow shift
• Second 12-hour shadow shift

Coverage Model

• Three weekday services
• Multiple coverage periods throughout the day
• Services expand to 12-hour coverage when volume increases
• Weekend coverage consists of two 12-hour services
• Surge coverage added when needed
• Onsite coverage
• Open ICU

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting: Hospital, Inpatient, Open ICU

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide onsite Hospitalist coverage
• Round on approximately 1522 patients per day
• Admit approximately 1012 patients daily
• Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients
• Manage an underserved patient population
• Provide inpatient consultations
• Participate in Behavioral Health consultations
• Consult with Surgery as needed
• Coordinate care with Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Critical Care
• Manage appropriate inpatient medical conditions
• Participate in the daily call structure
• Coordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team
• Document patient care using Meditech

Call Responsibilities

Call Type: Onsite call coverage

Call Structure:

• Service C: 7:00 AM11:00 AM
• Service B: 11:00 AM3:00 PM
• Service A: 3:00 PM7:00 PM
• Services become 12-hour services when patient volume is busy
• Weekend coverage consists of two 12-hour services
• Surge coverage available when needed

Post-Shift Expectations: Once the call rotation is completed, providers are not expected to receive calls or be called back after their shift.

• Physical Therapy
• Occupational Therapy
• Speech-Language Pathology
• Case Managers
• Respiratory Therapy
• Onsite Intensivist
• Emergency Department physicians
• Surgical team
• Critical Care team

The onsite Intensivist manages drips and ventilators. Emergency Medicine, Surgery, and Critical Care providers assist with procedures as needed.
