Student Assistant - Library - Front Desk Assistant (Fall 2026)

Student AssistantThe Student Assistant will support the Library as a Front Desk Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. The student will provide patrons with general information about library facilities, resources, and services while directing them to the appropriate staff members for additional assistance. The student will also perform duties related to Access Services and Equipment Circulation, including assisting patrons with library materials, equipment checkout, and access to library resources to support daily library operations. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.Responsibilities include answering phone promptly and courteously, arranging discharged items on book carts, assisting patrons with computers and photocopiers, charging/discharging circulating books, emptying book drop regularly, maintaining paper and toner in printers, sensitizing books to be shelved, shelf-reading, dusting, and straightening books, shelving circulating books, shelving journals and reference books, inventorying books and ARC audit, charging/discharging GIL Express and ILL books, updating patron records, assisting with opening and closing the library, arranging furniture within the library, dusting and vacuuming the checkout desk area and ARC, dusting bookshelves including books, and checking the staff printer for on-shelf requests and finding them.Required Qualifications include being enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.Proposed Salary is $10.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.Required Documents to Attach include a resume and schedule of availability.
