Juntos Program Wayne County Coordinator Location: Goldsboro, NC Position Type: Temporary Schedule: 8am-5pm, Monday–Friday; in-person with some work‑from‑home availability and travel to school sites. Compensation: $20 – $23 per hour Essential Job Duties The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) is where students discover connections and community. It is where students live, gather, and improve themselves and each other. DASA serves all students at NC State through academic affairs, student affairs, and University College. NC State launched the Juntos Program in 2007 to empower high school Latino students and their families with knowledge, skills, and resources to ensure high school graduation and increase college access and attendance rates. Serve at least 60 Wayne County students and their families in the program. Facilitate and lead family workshop series and family night events (at least four family nights if not facilitating Family Engagement Workshops that year). Family nights focus on educational topics and center around the families’ interests. Hold two to three contact hours of 4-H club meetings every month that occur after school (or during school) throughout the school year, with support from 4-H agents, volunteers, and community partners. Meetings focus on academic success, STEM learning, career exploration, and community service. Provide one-on-one monthly Success Coaching sessions to 30 enrolled youth in Juntos, selected through collaboration with school staff. Check in individually with Juntos staff monthly during the school year, attend 8 of 10 statewide Juntos coordinator calls, and receive at least one monitoring site visit and report from the state office. Take students on field trips to colleges and other Juntos events, including the Juntos Summer Academy at NC State University and local summer camps with Wayne County 4-H. Recruit, supervise, and coordinate program volunteers to act as tutors or mentors during Juntos activities. Volunteers deliver workshops on study skills, life skills, STEM learning, STEM careers, college exploration, college entrance exams, applications, financial aid, and transitions to higher education. Ensure all volunteers have criminal background checks per Wayne School District and State 4-H procedures and that all adults and youth are registered on 4-H Online. Abide by all relevant Wayne School District policies, including staff conduct, student conduct, property treatment, and discipline policy. Collaborate with school, Extension, and community leaders to build a local program Sustainability Partners Committee. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required Skills: Exhibit initiative Strong problem‑solving skills Excellent organizational skills Dependability Bilingual (Spanish‑English) Effective written and verbal communication Preferred Experience: Experience in family engagement, student engagement, community engagement, and understanding of the local school system. Licenses: Valid NC Driver’s License required; Commercial Driver’s License not required.
