Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) - Mid Shift

Job Description

The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing a wide variety of medical emergencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate nursing excellence, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the Emergency Department, managing a patient ratio of 1:4, up to 5 with lower acuity.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and triage patients based on their medical needs.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and safety.
• Perform a variety of emergency procedures as necessary, including intubation and blood product administration.
• Educate patients and families on health management and post-discharge care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 3 years of experience as an RN in an emergency setting.
• Travel experience preferred but first-time travelers with 5+ years of experience will be considered.
• Current Maryland or Compact RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications required.
• Experience with the EPIC charting system is essential.
