A growing Menomonie manufacturer is seeking an experienced Lead Mold Setup Technician to support injection molding operations, mentor team members, troubleshoot production issues, and help drive continuous improvement efforts across the department.

POSITION - Lead Mold Setup Technician

JOB LOCATION - Menomonie, WI

STARTING DATE - Immediate

EMPLOYMENT TERM - Temp-to-Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE - Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) - 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm

STARTING PAY - Up to $38.00 per hour depending on experience

REQUIRED EDUCATION - High School Diploma or equivalent

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE - Previous injection molding, mold setup, process technician, or related manufacturing leadership experience required of at least 5 years

This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supporting daily molding operations, completing mold setups and changeovers, troubleshooting production issues, coaching technicians, and helping maintain quality and efficiency standards throughout the department. This individual will work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Tooling, and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve overall process performance.

Responsibilities

• Install and remove injection molds from molding machines
• Verify machine setup conditions and production readiness prior to startup
• Troubleshoot molding, process, material, tooling, or machine issues
• Establish and maintain processing parameters for stable production runs
• Monitor machine performance and part quality after setups and changeovers
• Train and mentor Mold Technicians on setup procedures, troubleshooting, and processing practices
• Coordinate daily priorities for mold technicians based on production schedules and downtime risks
• Lead shift startup and communication handoffs between teams and departments
• Assist with mold trials, validation activities, and engineering runs
• Work with maintenance and tooling teams on repairs or process improvements
• Identify recurring production concerns and recommend corrective actions
• Support setup reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain organized tooling, workspaces, and molding department housekeeping standards
• Use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Escalate unresolved quality, safety, or technical issues appropriately

Qualifications

• Strong injection molding and mold setup experience
• Previous leadership or lead technician experience required
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read process sheets, prints, and quality documentation
• Experience using precision measurement equipment
• Comfortable training and coaching team members
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Computer proficiency required
• Medical manufacturing or cleanroom experience is a plus
• RJG, AIM, or related molding certifications are beneficial
