EEO is the law. Category Communications Job Description We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Communications Specialist to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop, write, edit, and manage communications across internal and external channels. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping organizational messaging, enhancing public image, and ensuring clear, consistent, and effective communication to diverse audiences. Responsibilities Create engaging content for press releases, newsletters, social media, speeches, and website copy. Maintain consistent messaging and tone across all channels. Develop and distribute memos, newsletters, presentations, and announcements to keep employees and stakeholders informed and aligned with organizational goals. Build relationships with media contacts and write press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, and other materials. Coordinate press conferences and media briefings as needed. Draft, write, edit, and proofread a wide range of materials—including articles, reports, talking points, and social media content-ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with brand guidelines. Work closely with leadership, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to gather information, obtain feedback, and ensure the effectiveness of all communications. Provide writing support for special projects as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred. 3-5 years of experience in a communications or public relations role. Must be an excellent writer; a writing sample is required with application. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to adapt style to different audiences and platforms. Proficiency in AP style and experience following organizational style guidelines. Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, concise content. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, content management systems, and social media platforms. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
