LHH is seeking an experienced Legal Billing Specialist to join its Accounting Department. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for a billing professional with 5+ years of legal billing experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong understanding of law firm billing practices, client guidelines, and legal accounting systems.

The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the full billing cycle for assigned attorneys and practice groups, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with client-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, edit, and process monthly and ad hoc client invoices for assigned attorneys and practice groups.
• Create and maintain client and matter records within Elite 3E, ensuring information remains accurate and up to date.
• Review invoices for compliance with client billing guidelines, engagement terms, and firm policies.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and administrative staff to review, revise, and finalize pre-bills.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, including write-offs, transfers, adjustments, and billing inquiries.
• Manage special billing arrangements, alternative fee agreements, electronic billing requirements, and customized client invoice formats.
• Monitor billing deadlines and ensure timely invoice submission.
• Maintain detailed billing records and supporting documentation.
• Protect the confidentiality of client, financial, and firm information.
• Assist with special projects and additional accounting initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal billing experience within a law firm environment required.
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data analysis functions.
• Strong knowledge of legal billing procedures, client billing guidelines, and electronic billing processes.
• Experience with legal accounting and billing systems such as Elite 3E, Elite Enterprise, Aderant, or ProLaw.
