As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you’ll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Primary Responsibilities Work as a member of the civil engineering design team on projects serving clients in the New England area. Contribute to the design of civil engineering projects, prioritizing the safety, health, and welfare of the public. Familiarity with applicable design and safety standards and application of best practices. Prepare plans, detail drawings, and quantity estimation for projects of various sizes and complexities. Engage in highway and local roadway design, green infrastructure, stormwater management, drainage & grading, and multi‑modal transportation designs. Collaborate with diverse specialists to solve complex mobility challenges. Preferred Qualifications 4+ years of experience in Civil Engineering with emphasis on roadway and utility design, grading, site layout, stormwater management, complete streets, green infrastructure, and construction management. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Professional Engineer certification. Strong problem‑solving and communication skills. Attention to detail and exemplary work ethic. Preferred experience with MassDOT, MBTA, and Massachusetts municipalities; recommended experience with other New England state DOTs. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; recommended experience with MicroStation OpenRoads. At least one prior role in the AE industry preferred. Local candidates given preference. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design. Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position. Hands‑on experience with highways and roads CAD software such as Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk Infraworks, and Civil 3D. MS Office knowledge. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, conceptual alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans.
