Benefits Police Officer recruits start at $34.05 per hour ($70,828.37 annually). Upon graduation from the police academy, you receive an immediate step increase, with annual step increases thereafter for the first five years of employment. Employees receive employer‑paid vision, dental, short‑term disability, life insurance and a generous health insurance plan. Full‑time employees also receive paid vacation, sick, and personal leave. Police Officers contribute to the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund. Responsibilities Police Officers take proper enforcement action as necessary to maintain order, safety, and general welfare of the city. Officers provide a highly visible, professional presence while conducting patrol activities, maintaining safety, and assisting citizens in a wide range of emergency and non‑emergency situations. This position has a high degree of accountability. Qualifications Must be a U.S. citizen. Eligible to hold an Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate. Minimum age of 21 years. Bachelor’s degree preferred or active duty military service with honorable discharge. Valid Ohio driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the city’s vehicle insurance policy. Must pass a background check according to the city’s established criteria and any state law restrictions, including credit, criminal history, employment and personal reference checks, and a home interview. After a conditional offer, candidates may be subject to a lie‑detector examination, medical evaluation, drug screen, psychological evaluation, and personality assessment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
