GSM Intern (Year-Round)

Position GSM Intern (Year-Round) Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan Job Purpose The GSM Intern will conduct activities associated with the purchase of a wide range of supplies, materials, equipment, and services. Tasks include obtaining pricing, administering contracts, and pursuing projects to support the purchasing functions. The intern will work independently, manage multiple projects, and communicate with reporting units, cross‑functional teams, and suppliers. Key Responsibilities Understand and follow current global supply management policies and procedures. Communicate verbally and in writing to obtain supplier pricing with proper templates. Maintain the centralized supplier file system. Assist other department staff as needed or directed. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or other associated leaders within the department. Track, project manage, and provide analytical analysis for responsible projects. Support preliminary vetting of suppliers (contact information, questionnaire, NDAs, etc.). Submit RFIs on select projects and track suppliers’ feedback. Perform cost breakdown analysis between different suppliers for negotiation. Benchmark information, updates, and summaries for best‑practice/lessons learned. Qualifications Current full‑time enrollment in an accredited college, university, vocational or trade school. Ability to report onsite at least three days to the Auburn Hills campus. Strong organizational, self‑motivation, conflict‑management, and resourceful skill set for managing complex assignments. Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface with all levels of management. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
