Generator Technician

We are a full-service distributor of Generac equipment and solutions providing sales, service and rentals.Major ResponsibilitiesPerform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed.Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner.Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.Create reports for all work performed in FieldServio.Communicate report findings through but not limited to phone calls, emails and in person communication.Conducting equipment commissioning for the industrial and MPS products.Minimum Job RequirementsEducationHigh School DiplomaCertification / LicenseValid Driver LicenseWork Experience4 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesWorking knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagramsWorking knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems.Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating productsWorking knowledge of diesel or gaseous enginesExcellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision.Working knowledge of transfer switch operationsSpark Ignited knowledgeAbility to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series coursesAbility to work and communicate well with othersAbility to provide detailed reports within 24 hoursAbility to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely mannerExcellent conflict and resolution skillsAble to observe, identify and relay critical information to the company, customers, or coworkerPreferred Job RequirementsEducationAssociate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringCertification / LicenseN/AWork Experience6 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesN/APhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsProduction Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice.
