This role includes troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and diesel equipment, performing preventative maintenance, managing parts inventory, and identifying and resolving safety issues related to company and customer-owned equipment. The technician will work directly with customers across multiple sites and technologies and will use strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and provide effective solutions. **Who We Are Looking For** Xylem is seeking mechanically inclined professionals who are passionate about hands-on work, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. If you are driven by innovation, service, and making a real impact, we invite you to bring your skills to our team as a Field Service Technician. **Essential Responsibilities** + Create and maintain a safe working environment and culture within the organization. + Perform field service activities and troubleshoot equipment at customer sites. + Perform preventative maintenance and support the repair of mechanical, electrical, and diesel equipment. + Identify and resolve safety issues involving company and customer-owned equipment. + Manage and maintain parts inventory as needed to support field service activities. + Take care of company property, tools, equipment, and vehicles. + Communicate professionally with customers and provide effective solutions to service needs. + Work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating the ability to work independently. + Demonstrate accountability, innovation, and empowerment in support of a high-impact culture. **Qualifications** + High school diploma or equivalent required. + 0-2 years of technical work experience; 1 year preferred. + Experience in field service, mechanical, electrical, diesel, fusion, industrial equipment, or related technical work preferred. **Skills** + Electrical, mechanical, diesel, and/or fusion experience depending on business unit. + Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities. + Ability to work independently with limited supervision. + Experience using Microsoft Office applications and smart devices. + Strong customer service and communication skills. + Ability to synthesize technical information and communicate it clearly. + Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. + Ability to develop solutions and solve problems in new and unexpected situations. **Travel and Driving Requirements** + Daily local travel to customer sites is required, with overnight travel as needed based on business needs. + This position requires operating a company vehicle. Candidates must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record that meets company standards. + Candidates must successfully complete all required driver, DOT, medical, and background screening requirements. + Ability to obtain required customer site clearances, including TWIC, DISA, or other site-specific credentials, as needed. **Compensation & Benefits** The estimated pay range for this position is $27 to $29 per hour.
