Schedule: 36 Hours/Week | Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) | Every 3rd Weekend | Holiday Rotation Required

Position Overview


Genesis Healthcare System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Cardiac Step-Down team. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled cardiac nurse with a strong background in Open Heart Recovery, Cardiac Telemetry, and Step-Down care . The successful candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac step-down patients, including post-operative open-heart and cardiac catheterization recovery patients.
• Monitor, assess, and manage patients receiving cardiac drips and advanced cardiac therapies.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and promptly communicate changes in condition to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols.
• Accurately document patient care using the Epic electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and recovery expectations.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.
• Float to other appropriate nursing units when required to support patient care needs.
• Provide care for ventilated patients if needed in rare circumstances based on patient volume and staffing requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Current BLS (BCLS) Certification.
• Current ACLS Certification.
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent Cardiac Step-Down nursing experience.

• Cardiac Drip Management
• Post-Operative Cardiac Patients
• Cardiac Telemetry
• Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Assignment Details

• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week
• Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Typically every third weekend
• Holiday Requirement: One holiday during the assignment
• On-Call: No routine on-call requirements; occasional call coverage may be requested based on staffing or patient census.
