This position's internal job code is Spacecraft Mechanical Technician B. Our team is currently hiring for labor grade 15. Position Responsibilities Assemble, install, test, checkout and inspect mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures Visually inspect mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures Operate a wide range of machine tools. Included but not limited to, drill press, grinders, chop saw, power, and hand tools Mix and apply epoxy materials Prepare and bond components to composite structures Support other mechanical areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require Perform incidental related duties as assigned or required This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Shift This position is primarily 2nd shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives. Candidates must be able to work any shift assigned. Union This is an hourly union-represented position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721). New hires and employees transferring from non-union roles may be required to attend or complete training within their 90-day probationary period. Continued employment is contingent on successfully completing the probationary period. Security Clearance This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An Interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Experience reading basic blueprints Experience following written and verbal work instructions Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment Experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems Experience with mechanical trouble shooting, disassembly and repair Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks Preferred Qualifications More than 1 year of experience interpreting manufacturing blueprints More than 1 year of experience mixing epoxy materials More than 1 year of experience with the following types of hand tools (calipers, digital optical micrometers, depth gages, thread gages, go no go gages, etc.) More than 1 year of experience with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, micro bonder, vacuum gauges and heat blankets Conflict of Interest Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
