Electro-Mechanical Technician Senior Second Shift - Millennium Space Systems

Position Overview Senior Electro‑Mechanical Technician – Second Shift – Millennium Space Systems Company (a Boeing Defense, Space and Security subsidiary). The technician will support manufacturing of space flight sub‑systems and support equipment, performing a variety of electro‑mechanical assembly and inspection tasks at the El Segundo, California facility. Responsibilities Electro‑Mechanical assembly of PCB assemblies into product chassis. Assemble electro‑mechanical assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications and written assembly and standard operating procedures. Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers and calipers. Visually inspect electro‑mechanical assemblies against drawings, engineering specifications and written assembly, integration and test procedures. Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications. Document non‑conformances and associated rework/repair. Solder and rework through‑hole and SMT components. Support conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. More than 3 years of experience in electronics, electro‑mechanical and printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies. More than 3 years of experience in electro‑mechanical assembly on high‑reliability products. More than 3 years of experience working with ESD, IPC J‑STD‑001 and IPC‑A‑610 standards. More than 3 years of experience with soldering. More than 3 years of experience reading blueprints, working with manufacturing plans, and reviewing instructions for aerospace manufacturing processes. Capable of lifting 20 lbs or more on a frequent basis. Capability to stand, move, reach, bend or stoop to handle products for extended periods of time with short breaks. Preferred Qualifications More than 5 years of experience building a variety of component‑level space products (e.g., avionics boxes, batteries, mechanisms, optics, PCB assemblies, solar arrays). More than 3 years of experience using hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. More than 3 years of experience working in a Clean Room environment. More than 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment. Current IPC J‑STD‑001 and/or IPC‑A‑610 certification. More than 3 years of experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems. Additional Information Shift: Primarily 2nd shift; additional shift requirements may apply. Ability to work any assigned shift is required. Union: Hourly, union‑represented (Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union, CMM&IC Local 721). New hires and transfers from non‑union roles may be required to attend or complete training within a 90‑day probationary period. Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a U.S. Top Secret clearance (interim and/or final post‑start). U.S. citizenship is required. Relocation: Relocation assistance not provided; candidates must live locally or relocate at their own expense. Travel: Up to 5% of the time. Pay: $29.42 – $47.09 per hour (range).
