Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant Position located in office in Colorado Springs. This senior accountant is an important administrative and support role at Superior Steel Supply. The key functions include assisting with Accounts Payable overview and discrepancy research, month‑end and year‑end closing assistance, monitoring and analyzing customer accounts and Accounts Receivable, account reconciliations, assisting with inventory reconciliations, and supporting the audit process. To be successful, you should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. You should also have excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and communication skills. You should be proficient in Microsoft applications, experience with accounting software, and have a demonstrated knowledge of business acumen. This position will work out of our Colorado Springs office. Reporting Structure Reports directly to CFO. Responsibilities Research and resolve accounts payable discrepancies with team members and vendors Process AR credits and freight claim paperwork Enter AP and AR transactions utilizing established databases; comfortable with electronic and paper transactions Monitor and analyze accounts receivable balances to ensure timely collection of customer payments Assist in reconciliation of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other general ledger accounts on a monthly basis; ensure accuracy and completeness of data Prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet and other financial statement accounts Assist with month‑end closing and reconciling between software systems Help maintain the general ledger, assist with monthly journal entries, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures Support the department during audit preparation and assist with year‑end closing; provide documentation and information as requested by auditors Assist in maintaining fixed assets and depreciation schedules Assist with property and franchise tax reporting Demonstrate a proficient level of business acumen in professional communication, financial analytics, and critical thought processes Other duties as assigned Position will train and work from the Superior Steel Colorado Springs Office Normal office hours: 8 AM to 5 PM, with 1 hour lunch break; must be flexible for extra hours to meet business requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other degree with equivalent experience Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting standards Minimum of 3–5 years experience working in accounting (preferably in a for‑profit company) Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Good communication skills with internal employees, external vendors, and customers; ability to work in a team environment Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Familiarity with accounting software systems, such as QuickBooks Experience in audit preparation and year‑end closing is a plus Experience in a manufacturing environment, inventory, and cost accounting is a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr Superior Steel Supply, LLC
