A. BASIC PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair physical structures of buildings, equipment, and ground maintenance by performing the following duties:

• Inspects, repairs, and maintains all of the properties of the Sacramento County Operations, including the Alhambra campus, and recommends outside contractors when needed.
• Schedules and performs regular maintenance and repairs on heating and air conditioning units. Replaces filters as scheduled.
• Maintains and repairs mechanical equipment on a regular schedule.
• Replaces lights, fuses and batteries as needed.
• Performs electrical and motor repairs as needed.
• Paints rooms, buildings, including officers' quarters and does masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings.
• When requested, assist in directing volunteers engaged in ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
• Interprets company policies to volunteer workers and enforces safety regulations.
• Provides preventive vehicle maintenance to all Sacramento County Operations vehicles (belts, hoses, fluids, oil change, wiper blades).
• Performs routine safety checks with the Maintenance Supervisor and site supervisors.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS 1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years of experience in building and property maintenance and/or equipment repair. 2. The ability to pay attention to detail, set priorities for projects and maintain an inventory of supplies as needed. 3. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a DOT-Regulated Salvation Army vehicle 4. Must be 21 years or older. 5. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis 2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects 3. Ability to reach overhead 4. Ability to operate telephone 5. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting 6. Ability to operate a computer 7. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information 8. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
