Financial Analyst, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Cockrell School of Engineering Hiring Department: Chandra Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Position Open To: All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA Earliest Start Date: Immediately Position Duration: Expected to Continue Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Purpose The Financial Analyst supports the department’s financial operations, budget management, and account oversight across multiple funding sources. The position works with the Director, Department Chair, faculty, and administrative staff to monitor accounts, prepare financial reports, support budget planning and forecasting, facilitate contracts, and ensure consistency with university policy and funding guidelines. The role also serves as a key financial resource and supervises procurement support functions. Responsibilities Manage department accounts, monitoring discrepancies, maintaining stopping rubrics, and providing statistical reports. Manage operating, indirect cost return, designated tuition, gift, and endowment budgets, preparing budgetary documents and reports. Analyze accounts and overhead, forecast expenditures/income, assist with research administration, and maintain service center accounting processes. Assist in reviewing and approving budget transfers, produce and review interdepartmental transfers, troubleshoot account issues, and provide training. Assist with coding schematic; prepare IFR reports, Excel statistical reports, LP2 entries, and manage electronic office systems. Supervise the Senior Procurement Officer position. Perform other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Five years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting, including planning, forecasting, or financial analysis. Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking ability. Ability to communicate administrative information to technical and non‑technical personnel. Strong listening skills and customer advocacy focus. Extensive experience with Microsoft Office products. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting. Five years of experience in finance or accounting with planning or analysis focus. Prior experience in a higher education or academic finance environment. Initiative and good judgment. Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills. Knowledge of UT academic policies and procedures. Salary Range $65,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions Standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard. Work Shift Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Periodic work outside normal hours, including evenings and weekends. Periodic work may be required for special events.
