Techs must have a Washington state license.
BLS certification is required.


Description:
The unit has 7 operating suites.
There are 22-45 cases per day total across all specialties.
Add-ons are taken as needed.
The facility handles Level 3 trauma cases, but does not perform neurosurgery.
Both inpatient and outpatient cases are managed.
Approximately 35-40% of cases are add-ons.
Techs do not require national certification.
EPIC is the electronic medical record system used.
A charge nurse is present on every shift, covering both main operating room and cardiovascular operating room.
A resource nurse is available for the cardiovascular operating room.
Weekend requirements are covered by call time.
Techs are expected to be on-call for 5-6 days.
Call begins at 9 PM and ends at 6:30 AM the following morning.
For weekends, call is typically for 12-hour days or nights.
Response time for calls is 30 minutes.
Holidays are covered by a rotation among staff.
Scrub colors are provided.
After hours, a pharmacy offers 24/7 service.
Shifts from Monday through Friday can be 8's, 10's, or 12's.
Start times may vary depending on contract requirements.
Block scheduling is allowed.
Floating between different areas may occur based on experience.
Orientation on the floor is typically 1 week.
Common cases include general surgery, bowel resections, gynecological procedures, urology, and various other surgical interventions.
Two robotic surgery rooms are frequently utilized.
Dental procedures have their own technicians.
Orthopedic surgeries are not performed in the main operating room as they have dedicated rooms.
Bariatric and plastic surgeries are occasionally performed.
Scrubbing is required for surgical techs.
Housing may be challenging.
The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is EPIC.
