Lead Advance Practice Provider – Digestive Care Join Stanford Health Care’s Gastroenterology and Hepatology team as Lead Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in our Redwood City outpatient clinic. The role oversees 10–13 APPs across multiple subspecialties, balancing 60% clinical practice and 40% administrative duties. Responsibilities Clinical Oversight & Leadership : Co‑direct clinical, operational, and administrative initiatives; conduct regular staff meetings; facilitate clinical competency evaluations; handle patient complaints; orient and educate staff; participate in hospital‑wide and professional committees. Administration : Review financial plans; participate in hiring, evaluation, coaching, mentoring, and discipline of staff APPs; resolve operational issues; coordinate quality improvement and process improvement programs; cover 24‑hour on‑call coverage; coordinate APP scheduling. Legal & Regulatory : Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Services policies; advocate for scope‑of‑practice and funding/billing models; participate in legislative and health‑policy discussions affecting APP practice. Qualifications Education Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing or related field. Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s in Science, Physician Assistant Studies, or related field. Experience Minimum 1 year of licensed APP practice; 3 years preferred. Leadership experience preferred (hiring, mentoring, budget oversight). Licenses & Certifications State licensure (PA or RN) and, if nursing, a California NP, CNS, or CRNA license with current national certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated clinical competence in GI/Hepatology; management principles including hiring, evaluation, coaching, budgeting, and employee recognition; practice evaluation and process improvement; effective oral and written communication; relationship building across all organizational levels; evidence‑based practice and quality improvement; ability to work full‑time.
