Role Description The Certified AOD Counselor is a full-time, on-site position based in San Bernardino, CA. This role includes conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating group and individual counseling sessions for clients with substance use disorders. The counselor maintains accurate and timely documentation, collaborates with multidisciplinary team members, and participates in case conferences to support coordinated care. Daily responsibilities also involve providing education on recovery principles, relapse prevention, and community resources, while helping clients navigate program requirements. The counselor supports a respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive environment that promotes safety, dignity, and long-term recovery. Qualifications Current certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor in California and compliance with all applicable licensing and regulatory requirements. Experience providing individual and group counseling in substance use treatment settings, including assessment, treatment planning, and case management. Strong skills in communication, documentation, and record-keeping, with the ability to use electronic health record systems or similar software. Knowledge of evidence-based practices in addiction counseling, including relapse prevention, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction approaches. Ability to work collaboratively with clinical, medical, and administrative staff, and to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. Understanding of confidentiality standards, ethical guidelines, and state and federal regulations related to substance use treatment. High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant college coursework or degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field is beneficial. Prior experience in residential or outpatient treatment, detox services, or MAT programs preferred; bilingual skills are a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
