Centralus Health is central to wellness-for all of us.The Perioperative Care Assistant is responsible for providing routine support that contributes to safe and effective patient care within the Surgical Services Department. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN), the assistant will assist in transporting patients, managing equipment, and supporting the surgical team in maintaining a clean and organized environment.Roles and Responsibilities:Assist with patient transport and specimen delivery, ensuring timely and safe handling.Support surgical teams by aiding in patient positioning, movement, and preparation.Maintain operating room cleanliness by assisting in turnover and termination procedures, including trash and linen removal.Manage equipment logistics, including retrieval, setup, cleaning, and proper storage.Ensure the availability of essential surgical supplies and personal protective equipment in designated areas.Required weekday and weekend on-call responsibilities.Required Skills and Experience:High School Diploma or Equivalent ExperienceAbility to lift over 25lbs and assist with patient positioning and transfers up to 50lbsAbility to maintain a clean, safe environmentPreferred Skills and Experience:Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting Additional healthcare experience in perioperative or surgical services Familiarity with operating room protocols and aseptic techniquesPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand for prolonged periodsFrequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of equipment and patientsExposure to a hospital environment, including sterile surgical areasLocation, Travel, and Shift Requirements:Location: Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850Shift: Full-Time 10 or 12 hour shifts, Days/Evenings Monday - FridayMandatory On-Call (weeknights, weekends, holidays) will be discussed at time of interview0% Travel can be expected in this rolePay Range Disclosure:Standard Rate: $17.34 - $24.41 per hour plus benefitsCentralus Health and its affiliates are committed to treating all patients, providers, staff and volunteers equitably and with dignity, ensuring the highest levels of safety, care and respect, and striving to recognize and overcome biases and policies that contribute to disparities in healthcare access, equitable care and positive health outcomes for all.
