Dental Assistant, Aloha Dental Office (40hrs, Days)

Relocation Assistance Available Job Summary Provide direct support to dentists, hygienists, denturists and other provider personnel in the delivery of dental care and service within a Kaiser Permanente dental office. Essential Responsibilities Perform all duties permitted to a dental assistant consistent with training and under the observation of a licensed provider, including: applying topical anesthetic, removing sutures and periodontal dressings, retracting tissue during procedures, assisting with rubber dam placement, removing debris from operative procedures, inspecting the oral cavity, drying root canals with paper points, placing temporary filling material, taking impressions for periodontal night guards, polishing teeth when advised, training patients on oral hygiene, placing and exposing radiographic films. Support non‑orthodontist dentists by selecting and sizing bands, removing fixed orthodontic appliances, checking for loose bands and brackets, removing ligature ties and head appliances, placing and removing arch wires, elastics and separators, taking intra‑oral measurements, removing bracket bonding material with a handpiece, training patients, organizing records, greeting patients, reviewing health questionnaires, promoting emotional comfort, and answering patient questions. Anticipate provider needs, maintain scheduling flow, prepare and pass instruments, maintain a clean operating field, record and verify information per guidelines, enter and retrieve patient data via TEAM, respond to medical emergencies, expose and process radiographs, take blood pressure, sterilize instruments, maintain work environment, uphold infection control, report equipment issues, and perform preventive maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned, adhere to program policies, perform matrix retainer placement, polish amalgam, remove cement, take impressions for diagnostic models, fabricate temporary crowns, assist with nitrous oxide monitoring, and perform other EFDA duties per Board of Dentistry rules. Basic Qualifications Minimum one year experience as a dental assistant OR graduate of an ADA accredited dental assisting program. Education High School Diploma or GED required. License, Certification, Registration Dental Radiation Proficiency Certificate (Oregon) Pit and Fissure Sealant Certificate (Oregon) within 6 months of hire Expanded Function Dental Assistant Certificate (Oregon) within 3 months of hire Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire Additional Requirements Demonstrated competence in four‑handed dentistry technique. Satisfactory level of knowledge and proficiency in use of current dental materials, instruments and equipment. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work effectively under both direct and indirect supervision. Well organized in use of time and effort. Professional courtesy and good interpersonal skills with patients, providers and other employees. Excellent attendance record. Final candidate required to pass a clinical pre‑employment skills test. Preferred Qualifications Basic knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment. Notes 4/10 Days/Times vary.
