The Job at a Glance
The Group Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) leads the strategy, programs, and standards that help keep our team members safe and our operations compliant across the Parts Town family of businesses. This role partners with leaders across the organization to build a strong safety culture, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement in workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
Working at both a strategic and hands-on level, the Group Director develops enterprise-wide EHS programs, provides guidance on key risks and initiatives, and helps ensure consistent execution across our distribution, fulfillment, and repair operations. Success in this role means creating safer workplaces, supporting business growth, and fostering a culture where safety is a shared responsibility!
A Typical Day
EHS Strategy
- Develop and execute the enterprise-wide EHS strategy aligned with business goals.
- Establish company-wide safety standards, policies, and best practices.
- Drive enterprise-wide initiatives that enhance safety performance, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions that improve operational effectiveness and reduce organizational risk.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and mentor EHS team members, fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans for EHS professionals across the organization.
- Partner with executive leadership to align EHS initiatives with business objectives and operational priorities.
- Influence and support leaders at all levels in driving ownership of safety and environmental performance.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with Operations, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Legal, Facilities, and Engineering teams.
- Drive organizational change by championing EHS best practices and enterprise-wide improvement initiatives.
- Communicate EHS strategy, performance metrics, and key initiatives to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Promote a culture where safety is a core value and every team member is empowered to identify and mitigate risk.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.
- Oversee risk assessments, audits, inspections, and corrective action programs.
- Monitor regulatory changes and proactively implement compliance initiatives.
- Partner with Legal and Operations leaders to mitigate organizational risk.
Safety Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze key performance metrics and trends to drive improvements.
- Lead incident review processes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Champion enterprise-wide safety awareness, training, and engagement programs.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions that enhance safety performance and operational effectiveness.
Environmental Stewardship
- Oversee environmental compliance programs and reporting requirements.
- Ensure responsible management of hazardous materials, waste streams, and sustainability initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts that protect team members, communities, and the environment.
To Land This Opportunity
- You have 10+ years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or industrial environments.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- You have experience building or maturing enterprise-wide EHS strategies and programs across multiple U.S.locations in a matrixed organization (international experience and practical exposure to European and UK EHS expectations, cultures and operating models preferred)
- You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business applications used for reporting, analysis, and communication (experience with ERP, WMS, business intelligence, or other operational systems supporting distribution and supply chain environments is preferred.
- You have experience utilizing EHS management systems, compliance tracking tools, and incident management platforms. You can analyze EHS performance metrics and communicate insights through dashboards, reports, and executive presentations (experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to administer compliance and safety training programs is preferred).
- You have demonstrated experience with regulatory inspections, compliance assurance, significant incident investigations, emergency response and senior-leadership reporting.
- You have successfully led regulatory inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk management initiatives.
- You bring a proven track record of building and influencing safety culture at all levels of an organization.
- You possess strong leadership, change management, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- You can translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business processes and operational solutions.
- You have exceptional collaboration and project management skills.
- You demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and a history of driving measurable business results.
- You are able to obtain a current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- You have a quality, high speed internet connection at home.
- You’re an all-star communicator and are proficient in English (both written and verbal). If you’re bilingual, that’s a plus!
- You can travel domestically and/or internationally up to 20% of the time.s

- OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom)
- OSHA Process Safety Management
- EPA Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
- EPA hazardous waste regulations
- DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations
- Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) requirements
- Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA)
- NFPA hazardous material storage requirements
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

The salary range for this role is $129,780 - $175,584annually which is based on including but not limited to qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Parts Town is a pay for performance-company. In addition to base pay, some roles offer a profit-sharing program, and an annual bonus depending on the role. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) with match, employee assistance programs, paid time off, paid sick time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and professional development opportunities.
