Summary of Position: The HR Generalist provides day-to-day support for all areas of Human Resources, including benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, HR compliance, workers' compensation, and HR systems. This role partners closely with the Human Resources Manager and Operations teams to ensure an outstanding employee experience while maintaining compliance with federal and California employment laws.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration

• Administer employee medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) benefit programs.
• Coordinate employee enrollments, changes, and terminations.
• Assist with annual Open Enrollment, employee education, and benefit communications.
• Work with insurance carriers and vendors to resolve benefit issues.
• Audit payroll deductions to ensure benefit accuracy.

Leave Administration

• Manage leave requests including:
  • FMLA
  • CFRA
  • Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL)
  • ADA accommodations
  • Personal leaves
• Coordinate documentation with employees, managers, and third-party administrators.
• Track leave status and ensure compliance with applicable laws.

Workers' Compensation

• Manage workers' compensation claims from initial report through closure.
• Coordinate communication with insurance carriers, employees, and management.
• Monitor return-to-work programs and modified duty assignments.

Employee Relations

• Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies and procedures.
• Assist with employee concerns, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution.
• Support performance management and corrective action documentation.

HR Administration

• Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
• Process employment changes including hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
• Assist with onboarding and new hire orientation.
• Support HR reporting and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate HR communications and company-wide initiatives.

Compliance

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Assist with ACA reporting and compliance.
• Maintain required labor law postings and HR documentation.
• Support audits and government reporting requirements.

Additional Duties

• Assist the Human Resources Manager with special projects.
• Support recruiting and hiring efforts as needed.
• Participate in employee engagement initiatives and company events.
• Travel to restaurant locations will be required based on business needs, including supporting investigations, training, onboarding, employee relations, and other HR initiatives

Requirements:

  Qualifications/Skills:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of Human Resources experience.
• Restaurant, hospitality, retail, or multi-location experience preferred.
• Experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity experience is a plus).
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
