Charge Clinician (NP, PA, CNM) - South Los Angeles, CA

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Charge Clinician ( Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, or Certified Nurse Midwives ) with excellent communication and clinical skills to oversee our South-LosAngeles region clinicians, consisting of four (4) health centers (Carson, Lakewood, Lawndale, and Long Beach).Provide shared center leadership with the Center Manager and model clinical expertise. Assist the Center Manager and Senior Director of Health Center Operations by providing medical oversight of all center staff in designated center(s). Provide quality reproductive health care services including exams, diagnosis, treatment, education, and counseling for clients in accordance with PPLA protocols. Serve as a medical resource for other licensed and non-licensed staff. Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications: Master’s/Graduate degree required An active California License as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse Midwife required Current furnishing license required (for NP and CNM) DEA Number preferred NPI Number required Medical provider number required Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required Board Certified Two (2) years of recent experience in education and training preferred (1) year experience as a Clinician in reproductive healthcare and/or women’s healthcare Ability to travel to multiple health center sites as needed and reliable means of transportation Experience in a leadership role in healthcare field preferred Clinical/Patient Care Responsibilities: Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors. Maintain clinical skills to meet agency needs and legal requirements for licensing Function as a Mid-Level Clinician, providing patient care 4 days/week Have consistent oversight of all Clinician staff in the assigned region Perform all the clinical job functions listed on standard Mid-Level Clinician job description Work closely with and assist with the development of Policies and Procedures to ensure consistent standards of practice Is available for patient and staff calls and review medical records for potentially high risk situations and clinical questions Participate in on-call coverage and be additionally available during emergencies for telephone consultations outside of regularly scheduled work time/on-call hours Follow PPLA/ PPFA medical protocols, standards, and guidelines Participate in Health Center efforts to achieve established goals, including those on productivity Maximize center flow and provider efficiency through appropriate utilization of Flow Facilitator Manage Mid-Level Clinician performance issues in designated center(s) Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to identify and assist with the development, solicitation, and implementation of corrective plans of action Perform Quality Management chart reviews in collaboration with the Performance Management Team Consistently communicate quality review findings to Mid-Level Clinicians and work collaboratively to develop an improvement plan Management/Administrative Responsibilities: Provide general oversight and supervision for all health service delivery within a health center Collaborate closely with Center Manager to problem solve and find solutions for the benefit of patients and staff Participate in the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice standards, guidelines, and Policies and Procedures based on current literature, research, and practice Collaborate with the Medical Director, Senior Director of Health Center Operations, and Center Managers to complete new hire and annual performance and competency evaluations of Mid-Level Clinicians Assist with the recruitment and hiring processes of new Mid-Level Clinicians and preceptors Strengthen recruitment and retention efforts through clinical rotation opportunities Serve as a clinical resource for agency staff regarding medical protocols and patient medical management Oversee updates to the PPLA Medical Standards and Guidelines and ensure successful implementation into clinical practice Manage expense reports, time cards, and requests for time off from work for Mid-Level Clinicians in designated center(s) Work closely with the Medical Director, and/or Senior Director of Health Center Operations in program development and evaluation processes Foster team development between licensed and unlicensed staff Collaborate with other Charge Clinicians to be consistent with Clinician meeting agendas and meetings held monthly with Clinicians within the regions Attend clinic staff, clinic management and general staff meetings and in-services as applicable Participate in Task Forces or committees as needed and/or as requested Complete performance management plans and appropriate disciplining action as it pertains to the Licensed Staff behavioral and clinical performance Manage uniform and reimbursement expenses as defined in the PPLA Employee Handbook Enforce strong internal and external customer service standards of all Licensed and Unlicensed Staff Educator Responsibilities: Serve as a role model for the professional development of staff, colleagues, and others Promote and encourage professional growth and development Serve as supervising preceptor for Clinician interns and students as needed Assist with training and supervision of unlicensed clinic personnel Supervise, orient, and manage the training of Mid-Level Clinicians in designated center(s) Recognize ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to women throughout the life cycle Utilize advanced principles of adult education to participate in direct and indirect patient education Provide input in the development of patient education materials Generous salary and benefits package includes: Medical, dental, and vision coverage options for you and eligible dependents Free basic life/AD&D policy with additional voluntary coverage options Short Term Disability, Critical Illness and Accident policies 403(b) Retirement plan with up to 3% employer match Medical and Dependent Flexible Spending Account plans Public Transportation and Commuter Pre-Tax Reimbursements Generous vacation, sick, and holiday benefits Hiring range: $110 - $115 per hour (Non-Exempt) Compensation Philosophy and Position Hiring Range: At Planned Parenthood Los Angeles we continuously work towards our value of "we respect and honor all people", which also relates to our compensation philosophy.
