Pay Rate: $23.00 – $30.00 / hour (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday – Thursday/Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Subject to business needs and mandatory overtime)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Spirits & Beverage Blender / Cellar Specialist to join our production team in Downtown Los Angeles. This role focuses on the precision blending of commercial liquids—combining spirits, water, botanicals, and flavorings into large-capacity production tanks using sanitary pump and hose configurations.
The ideal candidate has hands-on cellar experience in spirits, wine, beer, kombucha, or juice manufacturing, paired with strong mathematical accuracy to calculate precise liquid proofs, volume adjustments, and batch recipes.
Key Responsibilities
- Batching & Precision Blending: Accurately measure, scale, and combine raw spirits, purified water, flavorings, and ingredients in large bulk tanks using pumps, hoses, and manifolds.
- Calculations & Adjustments: Perform accurate math and algebra calculations for proofing, volume adjustments, unit conversions, and batch scaling to hit exact liquid targets.
- Cellar Operations & Liquid Transfer: Manage tank-to-tank liquid transfers, bulk filtration, agitation, and carbonation/blending processes while monitoring flow and pressures.
- Quality Assurance & Testing: Perform routine quality checks (ABV/proof, hydrometer/density readings, Brix, pH) and maintain precise paper and digital batch logs for internal standards and TTB compliance.
- Sanitation & CIP: Execute strict Clean-In-Place (CIP) and manual sanitation routines on tanks, lines, pumps, and tools pre- and post-production.
- General Facility Support: Operate forklifts safely, assist with bulk ingredient inventory management, barrel handling, and support packaging or general labor needs as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Industry Experience: Direct cellar or blending experience in commercial beverage production (distillery, winery, brewery, kombucha, or juice processing).
- Strong Mathematical Aptitude: Proficient in basic math and liquid calculations (calculating proof/gallons, volume percentage adjustments, and ingredient scaling).
- Equipment Knowledge: Comfortable operating, troubleshooting, and sanitizing liquid transfer pumps, hoses, valves, flow meters, and filtration systems.
- Software & Digital Skills: Working knowledge of digital spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) and paper logging practices.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work on your feet in a damp facility, routinely lift/move 50+ lbs, handle heavy hose setups, climb ladders, and safely operate in tight spaces.
