Job Application - Cortland County Community Action Program Job Posting OPEN Family Resource Specialist Position: Family ResourceSpecialist Program: Healthy Families component of the Early Childhood Development Program Reports to: Program Manager,Healthy Families Status: Full-time,Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday through Friday, 37.5hours per week Starting Wage: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour Valid Driver's License is required for this position JobFunction: Conductsintake and assessments for Healthy Families.Responsible for establishing a trusting relationship with families and providingservices primarily in the home. Conductsoutreach at public events and maintains relationships with referralsources. Help strengthen theparent-child relationship, provide child development information, and offersupport in the areas of goal setting and problem solving. Essential Duties andResponsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Administerformal and informal assessments appropriately, complete a written narrative,and interpret result to determine eligibility. Initiateand maintain regular contact with families, primarily in their homes throughoutCortland County. Completetimely, accurate documentation in a computer-based system providing a narrativeof all contact. Makeappropriate referrals to health care and other providers. Coordinate serviceswith other agencies. Conductcommunity outreach to promote the Healthy Families programs. Provideprenatal and other health education Applyknowledge of child development, parent-child interaction, family systems, preventivehealth, and to assist families in raising happy, safe, smart children who areready for school. Assistfamilies to strengthen parent-child relationships, provide resources asnecessary. Assistparents to improve their skills to optimize the home environment for thechild's well-being and safety. AssistProgram participants in setting and achieving goals. KeepProgram leadership advised on unified community concerns and issues on aregular basis through scheduled meetings. Workcooperatively with other CAPCO programs and community agencies. Maintainfunctional knowledge of other local, state, and federal programs relating tolow-income individuals. Work with other human services agencies to create moreeffective flow of service in the community. Participatein training programs which relate to job responsibilities. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 3years' experience or Associated degree in human service field with at least 1year experience in working with orproviding services to children and families, an ability to establish trustingrelationships, acceptance of individual differences, experience and humility towork with the culturally diverse families, knowledge of infant and child development,willing to engage in building reflective capacity (e.g., capacity forintrospection, communicating awareness of self in relation to others,recognizing value of supervision, etc.), infant mental health endorsementpreferred. Must have a valid driver's license and successfully complete background check .
