Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for analyzing blueprints for mechanical systems to determine the specifications of components to be constructed. You will work with raw materials, utilizing welding equipment to fuse assembly components, and inspect fabricated components to ensure correct sizing. You will also use shears, power saws, cutting torches, and chipper knives to cut materials as needed and replace damaged or defective structural components.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, shears, and drill presses to cut, form, drill, and assemble metal components.
• Lay out parts for assembly by aligning parts or pieces to ensure proper assembly.
• Tack-weld fitted parts together.

Essential Skills

• Proficient in fabrication and reading blueprints.
• Experience with machine operation, including lathe and mill.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in setting up and running CNC machines.
• Capability to move machine parts to ensure sheet metal is properly cut and bent.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled, well-lit, and clean environment. The normal schedule is Monday to Thursday from 4 pm to 2 am, with occasional extended hours due to demand.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hr.
