Facilities Management & Construction (FMC) manages, operates, and maintains 56 City-owned buildings throughout the five boroughs, working to provide clean, safe, and energy efficient space for the tenants in these public buildings. FMC is dedicated to both the daily maintenance of the public buildings, managed by Building Services, Fire & Life Safety, and other critical field staff, as well as to long‑term renovation and rehabilitation projects, which are managed by a dedicated staff of architects, engineers, and other professional technical experts. FMC also oversees the daily operations of all elevators across the DCAS public buildings portfolio. The Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to the below: Oilers, under direct supervision, are responsible for the lubrication of power plant, pumping and/or construction equipment. They lubricate and clean pumps, engines, blowers, compressors, motors, gears, ejectors, bridge cables and other operating equipment; assist in the operation, maintenance and repair of this equipment; read meters and gauges; keep logs; operate lubricant filtering and purifying equipment; maintain lubricant inventory; and may operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties. All Oilers perform related work. Some of the physical activities performed by Oilers and environmental conditions experienced are: use vision to read small numbers and markings on gauges and equipment; use vision and hearing to avoid injury from overhead piping and rotating machinery; communicate orally in a noisy working environment; climb stairs, ladders and over equipment; stand upright for extended periods of time; walk over wet and slippery concrete surfaces; work in areas containing gases from the combustion process and strong odors from grease, lubricants and solvents; work in confined areas, at heights, and under piping which may be dusty and dark; lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Oilers are responsible in maintaining equipment so GHG emissions and local laws pertaining to energy codes are met. Oiler should obtain a fire safety directors certification. OILER - 91628 Minimum Qualifications Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in the lubrication, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment; or One and one-half years of experience as described in “1" above plus graduation from an approved trade, technical, or vocational high school or completion of an approved internship program; or One year of experience as described in “1" above plus an associate degree from an accredited school in mechanical technology. 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
