Peak Performers is partnering with a prominent state agency in Austin to identify a highly skilled  Graphic Designer - Senior / Publication Specialist . In this role, you will take full ownership of high-priority graphic design projects, executing creative vision from concept to completion with minimal ramp-up time.

The ideal candidate is a proactive creative who excels in print and digital design, long-form publication layouts, and strict brand adherence. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment where quick turnarounds, precise accuracy, and strong visual storytelling are essential to support statewide public communications.

 

The Team You Will Be Joining

You will integrate into a dedicated public communications team responsible for keeping Texas citizens informed and engaged. This fast-paced team values creativity, precision, and efficiency, providing critical outreach materials, campaign media, and annual publications.

 

Major Duties

• Design integrated campaign materials, flyers, brochures, signage, presentations, infographics, and outreach assets across print and digital platforms.
• Manage end-to-end design and layout for complex, multi-page long-form publications and institutional reports.
• Maintain and enforce organizational style and brand standards across all media.
• Prepare pre-press, production-ready files and coordinate with external printing vendors.
• Perform photo editing, basic photography, and rigorous proofreading/quality control to ensure flawless final delivery.
• Independently manage creative projects from concept through final production under tight turnarounds.

 

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of professional graphic design experience (in-house or agency).
• Advanced mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Strong, demonstrated expertise in long-form layout, publication design, and brand execution.
• Proven ability to self-manage, prioritize competing deadlines, and produce accurate, publication-ready work with minimal supervision.
• Portfolio Required: Applicants must submit a portfolio or work samples showing publication design and multi-channel campaign assets.
• Bonus Skills (Not Required): Experience with digital accessibility (ADA/508 compliance), motion graphics, web CMS, or government communications.

 

Exciting Opportunity Details

• Rate: $47 / hour (commensurate with experience; median target $47.00/hr)
• Length of Engagement: Contract (Minimum 2 months from start date, with potential to extend)
• Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, full-time (Choice of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
• Location: Austin, TX 78701 (On-site initially at state office complex, with potential hybrid option at a later date)
