Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility systems.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on bakery production equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, sensors, and packaging equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, identify the cause of failure, and complete repairs efficiently to minimize production downtime.
• Troubleshoot basic industrial electrical and control systems, including motors, relays, switches, contactors, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Use electrical meters, diagnostic instruments, technical manuals, schematics, and equipment drawings to identify and resolve equipment problems.
• Install, assemble, adjust, calibrate, test, and commission production machinery and facility equipment.
• Inspect machinery for wear, misalignment, leaks, loose components, or other conditions that could affect safety, quality, or performance.
• Replace or repair components such as bearings, belts, chains, seals, valves, motors, gearboxes, sensors, and power-transmission equipment.
• Assist with production-line changeovers, equipment upgrades, modifications, and new-equipment installations.
• Perform all work in accordance with manufacturer specifications, electrical requirements, and the equipment’s approved use.
• Follow all OSHA requirements and Company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, fall protection, electrical safety, and required personal protective equipment.
• Complete maintenance activities in compliance with GMP, HACCP, food-safety, sanitation, allergen-control, and environmental requirements.
• Protect exposed ingredients, products, packaging, and food-contact surfaces while performing maintenance in production areas.
• Coordinate with Production, Sanitation, Quality, and other departments to complete maintenance safely and minimize operational disruption.
• Support and monitor outside contractors and service providers performing specialized repairs, inspections, or installations.
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, equipment conditions, and preventive-maintenance activities.
• Use the Company’s maintenance tracking or computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), when applicable.
• Monitor spare-parts inventory and communicate replacement needs to Maintenance leadership.
• Maintain tools, replacement parts, maintenance areas, and assigned workspaces in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement projects designed to increase equipment reliability, improve safety, and reduce recurring downtime.
• Communicate equipment status, incomplete repairs, and safety concerns clearly during shift handoffs.
• Perform other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least three years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food manufacturing, bakery production, packaging, or another high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Working knowledge of production machinery, motors, conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, valves, sensors, and power-transmission systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and equipment diagrams.
• Experience performing and documenting preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, electrical meters, and other diagnostic equipment safely.
• Working knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and general industrial-safety practices.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond effectively to urgent equipment issues.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic work orders and maintenance records.
• Ability and willingness to work the assigned shift and occasional overtime, weekends, holidays, or emergency coverage based on operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certificate, vocational training, apprenticeship, or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechanical systems, automation, or a related field.
• Experience maintaining bakery or food-processing equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, depositors, freezers, and packaging systems.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment, VFDs, HMIs, industrial sensors, and automated production systems.
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, GMP, HACCP, SQF, and food-manufacturing requirements.
• Welding, fabrication, machining, refrigeration, boiler, or HVAC experience is a plus.
• Relevant electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, OSHA, or maintenance certifications are preferred.

Physical and Work Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Frequently stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
• Safely lift, carry, push, or pull tools, replacement parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Work in and around operating machinery, elevated areas, confined spaces, and production areas with varying temperatures.
• Work in an environment that may include noise, dust, flour particles, cleaning chemicals, wet surfaces, and hot or cold conditions.
• Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain the visual, hearing, and manual capabilities necessary to inspect equipment, use tools, read technical information, and respond safely to operational conditions.
