This role is ideal for an accountant who has a solid foundation in accounting, asks thoughtful questions, and looks for better ways to work. The individual will have opportunities to support process improvements using AI-enabled tools, automation, analytics, and system enhancements while maintaining strong controls, data integrity, and compliance.The Associate Corporate Accountant will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely, as business needs allow.ResponsibilitiesPerform monthly accounting activities for financial close accurately and on a timely basisIdentify repetitive accounting tasks and support process improvements through workflow automation, AI-enabled tools, and system enhancements where appropriate.Support the evaluation and responsible use of AI, automation, and other system tools by considering data quality, security, compliance, internal controls, and business process impacts.Manage accounting and reporting activities related to cash, debt, prepaids, and other corporate accounting functionsPerform reconciliations on accounting recordsPerform financial analysis Comply with relevant accounting standards and SOX controls Assist with internal and external auditsLicenses/CertificationsCPA or equivalent certification preferred Qualifications/ RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, Economics, Data Analytics or related fieldMinimum 2 years’ experience in accounting or reporting with an understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance documentationAdvanced knowledge in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and data analysis toolsCuriosity and willingness to learn emerging technologies, including AI tools, automation platforms, and reporting solutions that support finance and accounting operationsCommitment to continuous improvementStrong work ethic and excellent organizational skillsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environmentThe individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.
