Medical Lab Scientist/Medical Lab Technician

Shift: 3 different shifts, 1 opening for each; Tech A: Mon-Thursday 7am to 6pm

Job Description:

The Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist performs specimen processing, testing, and reporting of test results in compliance with regulatory requirements, policy and procedures, and TCRHCC's goal of providing quality patient care. The laboratory provides sub-specialties of service in a hospital setting, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy, with 24-hour coverage and rotating shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen processing and testing
• Report test results in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Rotate day, evening, or night shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime

Requirements:

• For Medical Laboratory Technician: High School Diploma; 60 semester hours (6 chemistry, 6 biology, 12 laboratory science) or completion of an approved military laboratory training program
• For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Bachelor's degree in relevant sciences with 48 semester hours of science coursework
• Certification required within 18 months of hire from AMT, ASCP or other recognized agency
• Minimum of six months (MLT) or one year (MLS) of clinical laboratory experience
• Continuing education (CE) must be maintained per certifying body
