Location: Middlefield, CT (on-site) Schedule: Full-Time | 1st Shift | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM Pay: $18–$24/hour, based on experience Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Our client is a long-established precision machining and mechanical assembly company in Middlefield, Connecticut, serving the aerospace and defense industries for nearly 70 years. They build high-quality, tight-tolerance components and assemblies where craftsmanship and attention to detail matter.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Assembler to join our client's 1st shift team on a temp-to-hire basis. In this role, you will assemble precision-machined components into finished mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies for aerospace and defense applications. You'll work from blueprints, work instructions, and bills of materials to fit, fasten, and inspect parts — ensuring every assembly meets exacting quality standards.

• Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and finished units according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and written work instructions
• Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, presses, and fixtures to fit and fasten parts
• Perform fitting operations including deburring, tapping, drilling, reaming, and light bench work as needed
• Verify parts and hardware against bills of materials (BOMs) prior to assembly
• Inspect completed assemblies using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments
• Identify and report defective parts, discrepancies, or drawing issues to supervision
• Complete assembly documentation, travelers, and quality records accurately
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and safety standards
• Support continuous improvement efforts and assist in other production areas as needed

• 1+ years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent hands-on mechanical aptitude)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
• Proficiency with hand tools and small power tools
• Basic experience with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• High school diploma or GED

• Experience assembling precision components for aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems
• Experience with torque specifications, fastener installation, and safety wiring
• Mechanical, technical, or trade school training
