About the Position

Weekend requirements consist of four to five shifts per four-week period, along with holiday rotation. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. The nursing unit is a 23-bed inpatient setting that focuses on adult and geriatric patients with general neurology, medical strokes, and epilepsy monitoring. Patient rooms are private, with specialized accommodations for continuous epilepsy monitoring. The unit also manages medical stroke patients and general neurology patients with conditions such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and various neuromuscular diseases. The unit supports specialized programs in spine care and epilepsy. Travelers should be prepared for potential emergency response team assignments during hurricane season, which lasts from June through November, with peak activity in August and September. Nurses must adhere to all facility protocols and comply with pre-start requirements. Professional development and continued education are encouraged through on-the-job training and experiences.
